Anyone remember that classic piece of NYC cinema, The Warriors? I know thornyc and badfaggot do.

Well, when thumbing through the new issue of Toyfare, a magazine I gracefully get comped to, I discovered that 26 years later, Mezco Toys will be creating action figures of some of the key characters! I may be revealing way too much geek-itude, but I'm so excited!

See details here.

I love The Warriors, partly because it sucks soooo much, and partly because Pop Will Eat Itself used a bunch of samples from the movie in a couple of their songs.

Warriors!....come to plaaaaayyy!
OMG!!!!

This is awesome!
Must get some of these for Tone!
They did an alleycat messenger race based on The movie.

Over 80 gangs with 6-9 members a gang.
The people who ran the race were The Riffs.
So Tone was a Riff.
*chuckle*

CAN YOU DIG IT!

Did you see that the same company is coming out with a special "bedroom" edition of Family Guy? "The safe word is 'banana'"!

My ex was in it. Actually, I think he's on the cutting room floor, but he's in the closing credits.

Orphans. So far down they're not even on the map. Real low class.

I recall the critics observed that geeks entered the theater, but exotic gangs exited.

Yes, it was the original Gangs of New York.

My favorite gang were the Baseball Furies. The line from Ajax, played by James Remar (the bad guy from "48 Hours"):
I'll shove that bat up your ass and turn you into a popsicle.
Also, if you blink, you will miss a "stirring" split-second performance by Oscar winner, Mercedes Ruehl.

Finally, the closing credits song, "In the City" by Joe Walsh was damned good.

Certainly, a classic film.
