Boymeat gets religious

Hey everyone - figured it was time for another small update. Have had a constant stream of visitors since returning to my apartment on Wednesday. Many thanks to all who came out, and those who volunteered but were not officially booked!

Of course, with near 24/7 supervision, I felt it was time to have a bit of alone time. So, I cancelled this afternoon's visit, and for once I am all by myself. It feels nice.

I still have ringing... not sure if it is constant, or if there are times that I can sufficiently ignore it. *shrug* It does look like that will be with me for the rest of my life. Hearing is still operating under the "bathtub" effect... every sound that comes into my right ear sounds like it is going through a body of water. I trust that will go away once the packing comes out of my ear on Tuesday afternoon.

Just took my elevator downstairs for the first time since Wednesday, so I could check my mail. Made me a little dizzy, but I was OK. We shall see about returning to work on Monday.

So, just to share something fun... rogueboi shared with me a little article from Harper's Weekly during his visit to me. It was about the story of a company that is advertising "The Rod," a child diciplinary device that has a whole lot of anti-spanking Jesus groups up in arms. Big big controversy. But the best part is the proverbs the company quotes in their tri-fold brochure (which I now have due to the wonders of the web, and will be a part of my caning classes in the future.

"Withhold not correction from a child; for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell." (Proverbs 23:13-14)

Fantastic! Where are my Priest robes????

Hope you are doing well after the thing with the ear.

As for "The Rod" You need one with your name engraved on it in scrolling victorian letters.

A friend and I were talking just the other night about having a cane with the words "Bad Motherfucker" burned into the side.

Then you can have pulp fiction scenes with a big bag of canes.

You: "Reach in there and give me my cane."

Bottom of your choice: "Which one is it?"

You: "It's the one that says bad Mother Fucker on it....yeah, thats it, thats my bad motherfucker...now bend over."

The Czech composer Bedrich Smetana wrote an auto-biographical string quartet entitled "In My Life". Like Beethoven, Smetana lost his hearing but continued to compose. There is a very poignat passage in the (third, I think) movement that represents the excruciating and unendurable high pitched squealing that presaged his deafness.

It may be good for you to listen to the piece and reflect upon these thoughts. a) Others have carried this burden, b) deafness didn't stop a _composer_, hearing loss will not stop you, and c) at least you will not die in an institution alone and insane as Smetana did (his deafness was caused by syphilis). d) it's excellent music to cane someone to ;)

I think you are taking all of this with remarkable grace.

I am deeply saddened to find "The Rod" is no longer in production...heck, for $5, what a cool collector's item that would have been as an addition to my toybag!

Ah, sadness... :(
