Life imitates art

Got an interesting debate going on with a friend. So, I turn to you, the educated, you, the opinionated, you, the folks who will probably most seek to embarass me and answer frivolously...

Poll #686361 Boymeat is Serenity

What male character in Firely best resembles Boymeat? (pick one or two)

Captain Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds
4(12.1%)
Hoban "Wash" Washburne
17(51.5%)
Dr. Simon Tam
3(9.1%)
Jayne Cobb
2(6.1%)
Shepard Book
1(3.0%)

And if Boymeat were in drag...

Zoe Washburne
7(22.6%)
Inara Serra
2(6.5%)
Kaylee Frye
15(48.4%)
River Tam
5(16.1%)

Why did you answer the way you did?

I picked a male character but none of the women characters really fit you completely.
You have bits and pieces of all of them.

Better than having a town named after you and a statue made of mud...

Now I need to give some thought to that idea.

When I remember Wash asserting his "alpha"ness with Zoe, well... it seemed to fit. Sir. :)

As for the women -- well, Inara gets around...

Wash asserting "alpha"ness?
Are you referring to "War Stories"?
Because I would barely call that asserting "alpha"ness.

Right, I should have said "attempting" to assert alphaness. :)

Quick question that affects my voting: by resemble, do you mean looks, personality or a combination?

For example, I see you lots with tight-fitting jeans and high up boots, and carrying weaponry (like say, a flogger attached to a belt) so that would make you a Zoe. But you're also very approachable and genuinely concerned with the well-being of others, so that's more of a Kaylee thing. Hrm.

I don't want to affect anyone's vote - vote how you feel.

That being said, you'll never catch me with a flogger hanging from my belt. I gave that up with my heterosexuality.

Yeah, I haven't seen it recently, it was more of a memory from the past. Interesting to know that it was a conscious move :)

You actually remember seeing me do this? *mind boggles* Then you have been paying attention to me for a very long time. I can't remember when the last time was.

Yeah, it was a concious decision. In my frank opinion, it looks dumb. And I hate the look of people wearing "Bat-Utlility Belts."

Does this mean you'd get more play in drag?
BTW, I can't help comparing these results with those of the other Firefly poll on my LJ flist today, and noting that your male Firefly alter ego has been voted least shag-able male character, but your female Firefly alter ego has been voted most shag-able female.
