I wanna go to Santa Fe...

Well, OK, Alburquerque, but close enough.

My speech is written. A whole slew of people read it, and it has some really heavy contribution from my brother, and TNG co-founder, high4tower. I feel so much better about this speech now that he touched it. It feels... right.

Now I just need to pack, and wish my back would stop hurting already.

I've been obsessed with RENT this week. Commuting, I listen to the Broadway soundtrack. At home, I have the movie play in the background, repeating songs I want to hear again.

Heavy on the playlist are Light My Candle, Santa Fe, La Vie Boheme, Take Me or Leave Me, Goodbye Love, and the Finale.

Obsessed I tell you. Wish I could tell you why.

You're playing RENT in heavy rotation on your iPod *and* watching the movie and you wouldn't let me play it in my own car... my own car?!

Insert insult here.

:-P

I have an "angry young adult" rotation I listen to...where I listen to angsty young people musicals...Rent, Spring Awakening, and even LesMis make the list sometimes. Sometimes i also toss in Aida, but it oft isn't angry enough. I'm lately obsessed with Spring Awakening tho...you'd probably enjoy it as well. :)

Goodbye Love is always the one that gets to me. You do realize that you could go to TKTS just about any day of the week and get $30 tickets, right?

"The right brain, how do I find the right brain?"
Remind me to burn you a copy of the 1994 NYTW production - High-Larious.

It was given to me by KGola, naturally.

I would love that. And, it might even require us seeing each other!

I have a few songs I have to hear every day.

since DO summer camp, I couldn't stop listening to Mika's "Relax Take It Easy." An earwig, I tell you.

And then this week, I was reminded of Ben Folds' Jesusland.

Safe travels.

Is there actually a point where one would *not* want to listen to Mika? I don't know if I believe that. I always want to listen to Mika.

I can't tell you how comforting it is to know that you too are addicted to Broadway musicals....

Musicals r ghey.

My favourites are probably Rent, Reefer Madness, and Les Mis. The god plays have some nice music too. Most of them have some songs that just feel good to belt sometimes.

The god plays? You mean like JCS, Godspell, Children of Eden?

If so, I totally agree.

If not, I don't know what you're talking about, lol.

I'm weird, but if I was going to Albuquerque, I'd be listening to...

Albuquerque, by Weird Al... :)

I've never seen Rent.

They've been playing "Rent" a lot on cable lately. If I pass it, I always need to stop if it's anywhere close to "La Vie Boheme" or "Take Me Or Leave Me". I also love "I'll Cover You" and "One Song, Glory." "Light My Candle" drives me nuts.

La Vie Boheme is one of the few songs that's guaranteed to put me in a good mood. I'm pretty sure it's constructed of pure energy.

Santa Fe is my favorite song. La Vie Boheme and Take Me or Leave Me are also in the top spots.

I'm gonna listen to some Rent on the way to Knott's tonight.

Your speech was great. The part about when a friend turned too old for TNG and wanted to be formally booted out in a big ceremony really hit a chord in me.

Julian Wolf finally got around to gently telling me that it was time to quit stalking the kiddies (or something more polite) earlier this year, and it was poignant for me because we don't have a Voyagers group here in Abq, unfortunately. (Back in Austin (where I still call home, even after being here for 4 years) the Voyagers group is *huge*.) There is definitely an age gap here in Abq between the large number of TNGers and the average age of the nonTNG-aged folks. I wonder if there was an era here in Abq, pre-TNG, where folks my age did get turned off or turned away, and that there's still a lingering age gap as a result.

And before you suggest it, I have no time or energy to spare with which to start such a group here, myself. I'm a starving grad student who is trying to graduate before I'm too old for Voyagers and/or forget what it's like to have a life! *grin*

Anyway, thanks for the workshop and the keynote. And next time you're smoking too close to the door, I'll definitely come out and confront you again, and we'll just *see* what happens. ;)
