As it sinks slowly before my eyes.

I am watching my company lose one of my clients, through absolutely no fault of our own. It has been sinking very slowly... agonizingly slowly, over a period of years, inch by inch, piece by piece. It's an incredible source of frustration for me, as I have worked on this client for almost 5 years now. Despite us doing stellar work for them year in, year out, it will go away. For no fault of our own - the reasons are all theirs.

It will slip through our fingers like dust.

There is a lesson here on how to deal with upcoming loss. When you know something is going to leave, despite you wanting it to stay... it requires intense preparation on one's psyche to handle it.

It's still sad to watch it happen. And frustrating as all hell because there is not a damned thing I can do about it.

yes. Sometimes the preparation is worse than the end, too.

Ah, the ol' "It's not you, it's me" gambit. I've heard a few of those too. Why don't you come to the meeting on Thursday night? It's a discussion about how people who identify as male deal with loss. It might be quite interesting.

oh Phil. I do wish I were in touch with you now. Either to commiserate in the loss of a client(not sure what you do, but know the biz or an aspect of)or to, erm... console you )ok... slight crush,,,no harm no foul)either be flattered (or pretend to!)

you seem to have so much going for you, frankly I find you intriaging and not much in your way

How is it that you are losing this client? Shy is your client ending it after so long?
