The next day.

I am pretty much recovered from the shock of the near-loss of my car. It's still a wonder how the tiniest bit of chance rescued the Pimp Daddy Van(tm) from becoming a Pimp Pancake.

This morning I learned that 3 cars were crushed by another tree a block or two away from my building. I'm sorry those vehicles didn't get to escape like the PDV(tm) did.

Last night I settled myself with a drink and a few phone chats. Now I'm finding it kind of weird that this unsettled me so. But I guess it's not every day that fate reaches down and plucks your strings so acutely.

I think I'd be a little frazzled too, but you must have some good Karma or something looking out for you. :) Hope today is better than yesterday.

Not losing your car was a shock?

The fact that if I didn't go to Queens... that if I went the day before, the day after, my car would no longer exist. Or if I came home 2 hours before.

The Great and Powerful Woo says ...

Everything happens for a reason, and the reason is usually pretty unimportant. Dwelling in the woulda/coulda/shouldas will simply make you insane.

More so than you already are. ;-)

Very true. I have enough insanity for one body.

It's really not so weird, but I know I'm talking from the perspective of someone who this happened to a few months ago. It's just not one of those things that you expect to happen; there's nothing you can do to stop it really; and you're usually pretty screwed if it does.

Pimp Pancake...I wonder what that tastes like...

Well, in this case, it would be made of wood, metal, plastic, and glass.

Probably not very tasty.

I'm so curious how you will want to call in that debt.

You are very very lucky. I left my house this morning to discover that the entire second half of my street was covered in downed branches and in a couple cases, whole trees. They even cancelled school in my town so no one would have to deal with all the downed power lines and things the storm left in it's wake.

You are a very very lucky person to have both your person and your car safe. Count your lucky stars honey, the universe is on your side.

That isn't plucking: that's slapping you upside the head.
