You might be a...

Is anyone else while watching Dah Arnoldator's speech except him to break into Jeff Foxworthy's "You Might Be a Redneck?"

He just said girly-man. *sigh*

Whether or not he was going to use the "girlie man" comment was one of the few things areas of speculation surrounding this highly scripted Convention. Considering the controversy he created when he used it to describe the California state legislators who were blocking his budget initiative, he certainly was taking a risk.

I think it's great when a politician is willing to take a chance to lighten things up and make a joke once in awhile. Considering, he is a moderate who supports Gay rights and has the support of many Democrats and Independents, he is someone the Republicans should look to for years to come

how is openly stating that he will not allow gay couples to marry in the state of CA showing support of gay rights?

Actually what he said is the the law does not allow it and he had to uphold the law.

Actually, he publicly demanded that Democratic Attorney General Bill Lockyer stop the marriages, long before the issue went to the courts.

He also said there'd be rioting and bloodshed in the streets of SF.

Arnold's views have tended to be more relaxed than the more conservative Republicans. Then again, let's also keep in mind that Arnold's early bodybuilding career flourished thanks to his gay benefactors.

Here's a link to his comments regarding Gay Marriage he made on Leno a few months ago.

Yes, he stopped the marriages in San Francisco because he was enforcing a law recently passed by the voters. He also stated that he would willingly accept the court's decision to reinstate those marriages, or if the voters decided to accept it. Furthermore, he openly opposed George Bush's stance on a Constitutional Amendment, and is a full supporter of domestic partnership rights.

While Arnold is not perfect, I think he is a hell of a lot better than John Kerry who has openly supported a Constitutional Amendment in Massachusetts banning Gay Marriages, the one state where the courts have legalized Gay Marriage. Whereas Arnold has stated he would respect the Court's granting of Gay rights, Kerry wants to overturn a court's grant by drafting discriminatory language into the Massachusetts Constitution.

yeah, gender-baiting comments by the Republicans are a real barrel of laughs.

It definitely beats the "tiny, tasseled loafer" lawyer jokes.

That was around the time I switched channels.

Then I flipped back and caught a bit of the Bush twins. And when the said something like, "Gammy, you're just not hip," I switched again.

I should know better than to try to watch.
