Mini-rant about scene rivalries

I had an amazing weekend down in DC this past weekend at the Elephant Pee and NCSF Casino Night charity event. That is not what this post is about.

This post is me blowing off a little steam about the political situation down in DC, and who the real victims are. As many know, there is a huge political brawl happening in DC's leather community right now. It is basically happening between 2 people who are highly involved in the local scene there. They are both very personable, and have many friends each.

Now that these two are fighting like cats and dogs (and nasty enough to put TES30 politics almost to shame), groups of friends have found themselves needing to stand on one side or the other. It's kind of like the Hatfields and the McCoy's. Really really unfortunate.

Well, the true victims in this case are everyone else. For example, at the Elephant Pee, there was the amazing fundraiser for NCSF listed above. A whole lot of hard work was put in to this event - hard work that was performed by no one involved with this ruckus. Instead, an army of NCSF volunteers lead and shouldered by the amazing lucindabrown did the work, and busted their asses to put on an event to raise money for a group that works for everyone and desperately needs the money.

The point? Well, because this was a "Crucible" event, many people did not show up, presumably because they cannot show support for the club. And that's a damn shame.

Because it was NCSF that suffered. Not the Crucible.
