NYC

Stand up and be counted.

I voted for the first time as an upper west side resident this morning. I for some reason felt much pride in that.

253 LJ users have me on their friends list. Striking off multiple accounts and forgotten journals, I conservatively estimate that 200 individuals read my journal.

I really, really hope all 200 of you have voted already or plan to today.

Work turn-ons?

While keeping what I do for a living mostly a secret, I will reveal that occassionally need to look up strange and obscure trade publications. OK, make that often.

There are some real gems published out there.

Now, this one I just came across - is it fucked up that the description was a mild turn-on?

The book is called Machinery Lubrication. (Yes, they publish a bi-monthly publication all about machine lube.)

Here is the description: "Machinery Lubrication articles focus on proper lubricant selection and lubricant application for industrial machinery and fleets. Each issue contains departments on greases, lubrication fundamentals, lubricant application, contamination control and filtration, handling and disposal and lubricant selection."

WOOF.

Sad

10 states voted to ban same-sex marriage tonight.

Arkansas
Georgia
Kentucky
Michigan
Mississippi
Montana
North Dakota
Ohio
Oklahoma
Utah

Still waiting for results from Oregon, as of 11:45 PM EST. The scale, according to CNN, is 52% in favor of banning, 48% against, with 44% of precincts reporting.

What an amazing country we live in, where basic civil liberties are denied to normal human beings.

Pathetic.
