Indian in Midtown West

Can anyone recommend a good Indian restaurant in Midtown, preferably on the western side?

A “solid” Midtown “standby” offering “better-than-average” Indian fare, “efficient service” and “comfortable” quarters; if the regular menu’s “a bit pricier” than the competition, the “outstanding” $13.95 lunch buffet remains a “best buy.”

“Hard to find but easy to enjoy”, this “white-tablecloth” Theater District Indian is “more inventive” than others in the pack, with “delightfully spacious” digs to boot; it may cost some “additional rupees”, so the $14.95 lunch buffet could be the way to go.

When I was working on 54th and 6th - we loved this place - even the Middle Eastern people I worked with at the time.

Please dear God people--help him find a good Indian restaurant. The one we tried sucked in my opinion.

“Distinct flavors” and “sweet service” make this West Side Indian “secret” one of those “classic hole-in-the-wall discoveries”; it “may not catch your eye”, but it’s a “quality” find in a “lacking neighborhood”, and has “takeout that travels well.”

A little more than midtowny, but Sapphire on Broadway between 60 and 61 (I think...west side of Broadway, above 59 but below 62) is nice.

My Indian co worker and I went to Shaan for my birthday and we agreed it was the best we'd had in midtown. Utsav is pretty good too.

The really good one I have been to is way out of midtown - 100th and Broadway, I forget the name. I know Flatiron a little better, but most of what I know in the area is more lunch offerings and vegetarian Indian buffets.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I've been to a Turkish restaurant right there, called (strangely) "Taj Majal", I think. LOVED it.
