Army/Navy in NYC

I was completely shocked and appalled to discover today that the great NYC institution, Weiss & Mahoney, has closed its doors. Its replacement? American Apparel.

So, fellow NY'ers... what is your favorite Army Navy store? Specifically someplace that will have army boots in women's sizes, and decent high-gloss tank boots or other uniform/military/police styles?

You might have to trek to I. Goldberg's in Philly.

Ebay. :)

If you're looking for something particular, let me know.

There's a decent one in NJ I can get you info on.

Police boots--like patrol boots? Those don't tend to be in surplus, sadly.

oh my god. I can't believe Weiss and Mahoney is gone. I grew up there! That's incredibly sad.

You might check out Kaufman's on 42nd between 8th and 9th, but I can't guarantee their boot selection. Also, there used to be a boot store somewhere around Weiss and Mahoney that I bought the most awesome (in my mind) boots at six years ago, but I unfortunately can't remember exactly where it is...

Kaufman's the shoeshine supply place or something else? If the former, I've never seen boots there..

Kaufman's is a army-navy surplus on 42nd, right by the port authority. I can't remember now if they have boots or not - I THINK they do, but I don't know how good their selection is.

There's a little A/N store on 6th Ave and 30th, there's a Carhartt's store (Dave's?) on 6th Ave and 16th and 17th, there's another big store on B'way near Grand St and there's still always Kaufmann's on forty deuce.
The A/N store on 8th and 46th is one I wouldn't recommend for boots, but they do have some.

I just answered that question a couple weeks ago for theoctothorpe and pagercub. Dave's Army Navy, as mentioned previously, on Sixth Avenue for construction and hiking boots. Purple Passion for some fetish and uniform boots. The Leatherman has the best selection of Wesco boots in the city, 99X on Tenth St for Doc Martens, Underground, and Grinders, and, believe it or not, the best boot selection in the city can be found at...

Trash and Vaudeville on St Mark's Place.
